Assessments
The assessments below make up the Super Student Package (SSP) and are purchased here only if you do not Buy Tutoring Hours. Assessments are listed here so you can purchase them individually, without buying hours. You can also purchase them with at least two hours for a study skills program and save as much as 70% off the total price. The assessments will help you become a better learner for life or just help keep you focused and your energy levels up.
Study Skills Assessment (SSA):
From beginning to advanced techniques- for everything
you do when you are not in front of a professor or your tutor. We
are not talking about the standard package of study skills. We teach you what
no one tells you: how to improve your "subjectivity" score
(points you didn't earn but are given up by sympathetic professors).
You learn how to:
- "schmooze" your professors without making it seem so.
- cry on command (or at least look like you are crying)
- get what you want from your professors (or for parents, your child's teacher)
- overcome test anxiety (blanking out on tests)
- develop speed reading skills
- use the memory systems of various experts to triple your memory
- budget and manage your time
- achieve more by actually studying less and faster
- use the secrets most 'A' students know
- use exercise and stress in the studying session to improve your efficiency
Learning Diagnostic Assessment:
Because you have unique learning styles, we determine the best way to
tutor you, from the beginning. You get tutoring custom made for how you
learn, rather than "generic" teaching methods that supposedly
work with the "typical" student. We all fit into several of 8
categories of learning, and the ideal is to have a balance. We show you how
to cater to your strengths and how to compensate for or even to develop your
weaknesses.
Learning styles include:
- Active (learn by applying or explaining it to others, like what tutors do)
- Reflective (learn by thinking about or reflecting)
- Sensing (learning facts, good for memory classes like biology or history)
- Intuitive (learning relationships, being innovative, like for chemistry or math)
- Visual (learn by seeing it in pictures)
- Verbal (learn by hearing or writing it down)
- Sequential (learning by following logical steps)
- Global (learning in large jumps, get the big picture from bits of information)
Nutritional Fitness Assessment (NFA):
How would you like to get in shape, have more energy, higher self-esteem,
and a better social life? All this is possible while getting better
grades. You see, we believe a sound mind is more likely with a sound body,
and vice-versa.
We believe that a student who is physically healthy will have
more energy to do better in school, on the job, and
in every aspect of life. When purchased alone, the NFA also includes a nutritional supplement of
your choice, chosen by our Nutrition/Fitness Expert Ryan Muetzel.
The NFA helps you to:
- reduce stress
- build confidence
- improve your health
- increase your energy
- increase your focus
- improve your self-discipline
- limit procrastination
- help prevent illness or decrease recovery time
- trim your waistline
- improve your mojo (attractiveness)
- get better grades
Home Environment Assessment (HEA):
We will help you optimize your home studying environment, or learn to
choose the best areas to study in your campus library. Contrary to popular belief,
coffee shops are not good places to study, unless
you bring ear plugs, post a sign that says "MUTE" or "DEAF,"
and wear tunnel vision glasses. Coffee improves mental alertness,
true, but this doesn't make up for the distractions in a coffee shop. Go to the library.
- use ideal sources of lighting
- reduce noise pollution
- remove distractions
- find the "off" button on your cell phone
- limit people traffic
- improve your studying efficiency
- reduce the amount of time needed to study
- find other uses for your TV (a paper weight?)
Entrance & Exit Surveys: We need your feedback to improve our service. Tell us what you liked about us and what we need to do better. Everyone is encouraged to fill one out, and if you do, we will give you 10% off next term. These surveys are included for our students and required for our guaranteed plans.
